About the course

The CMYK process is a way of achieving full-colour images by overlaying 3 ‘primary colours’ - cyan, magenta and yellow, plus black. It’s widely used in commercial and industrial printing, but can also be used by artists in the print studio to great effect. This workshop is a chance to explore the CMYK process using your own images as starting points. The process is ideal when working with photographs but can also be applied to hand drawn/painted images. Some experience of screenprinting (or another form of hand printing) is desirable but not essential. In the workshop we will cover the following: What kind of images translate most successfully into CMYK Preparing an image for making into a CMYK screenprint Exposing a photostencil Mixing inks Registering and printing Troubleshooting All materials provided. Tutor: Louise Bristow
