About the course

Join textile artist Deborah Manson for this two-day summer workshop to learn how to make beautiful natural blues and patterns on cloth using two indigo resist dye techniques: Shibori and Katazome. These two traditional Japanese textile methods can be used to create bold graphic shapes, painterly marks and repetitive patterns through folding, binding, painting, printing and dyeing cloth with Indigo. Deborah will show you how to make a simple indigo dye vat, share her pattern library and resist paste recipes and encourage you to experiment with these age old textile techniques to create your own range of samples and design a fabric bag and tea towel. Tutors: Deborah Manson
