Shirley Chubb

Shirley Chubb originally trained in printmaking in the 1980s. Her work moved away from print as she developed exhibitions in response to museum collections and Charles Darwin, who honed many of his theories during repeated daily walks. This led to collaborative art and health research where she continues to work with physiotherapists, to investigate the significance of walking as a reflective and creative experience. Her current work in print, paint and digital media further explores her interest in walking, and the horizon as a point of reflection in the landscape.

Shirley’s work is held in public and private collections, and she was awarded a practice-based PhD in 2007. She holds a Creative Physiotherapy Scholarship at the University of Auckland and is Emerita Reader in Interdisciplinary Art at the University of Chichester where she supervises a range of PhD research projects.
