About the course
Learn to print images onto fabric and experiment with a variety of methods and techniques. Develop creative ideas to print your own fabrics, bags, tea towels, t-shirts and more. On this course you will have the opportunity to: • Design and make blocks using immediate techniques before moving on to create Vinyl and Linocut blocks. • Screenprint onto fabric using paper cut stencils and creative mark making techniques, before moving on to make direct stencils using the photographic exposure process. • Experiment with mark making and layering colour by using the painterly process of Monoprinting. • Explore working with Cyanotype on fabric using found materials and acetate overlays. • Use vibrant colour and overprinting to combine techniques together to add texture and depth to your work. Learn how to register to create repeat or placement patterns. Summer school has a loose structure based around the following topics. Participants are free to print as they please and can choose to dip in or out of the topics on offer. Topics covered include design and planning ideas using block, screen and mono-print or a combination, Colour theory, mixing inks using transparency, opaque, tint and tone and colour combination, learning about Layering, overprinting, repeats and registration. Cancelation Policy
Course cancellations need to be made 14 days in advance via email for a refund and will be subject to a £10 administration fee. Cancellations after this period will be subject to an administration charge of 50% of the course fee. However students can opt to transfer their booking to a future course, subject to availability. If you cannot attend a course but have a friend or colleague that can take your place instead then there will be no admin fee for transferring the place.
