About the course

A three-day course exploring experimental drawing and screen printing at East Side Print. To kick off the course we will spend a day outside drawing with artist Emily Jolley. The emphasis will be on experimentation and exploring mark-making, in order to generate material to work with back in the screen print studio. On days two and three we will work with different screen printing techniques including: - Combining screen printing with collage - Using tusche washes to create subtle textures and marks in photo-stencils - Using spontaneous techniques for mono-printing through the screen, exploring direct painterly mark making using screen inks, watercolours and other water-soluble materials. - Combining with paper stencils and found materials such as leaves, thread and mesh to further investigate free-form techniques and compositions. A perfect course if you're new to printmaking, or for printmakers looking to loosen up their style. All skill levels welcome and encouraged. All screen printing materials provided. Some sketching materials and paper provided. More paper can be purchased in the studio, or bring your own. Tutors: Emily Jolley, Cath Bristow and Louise Bristow
