About the course

Create vibrant printing ink from plant-based dyes to screen and block print your designs onto fabric.  Using plant dye extracts and plant materials, learn how to create a wonderful variety of colourful printing inks by combining these with natural thickeners. On this one day workshop we will explore how to mix, intermix and extend plant ink to create different colours and tones; screen print using paper and photographic stencils; make simple printing blocks; experiment with layering colours through overprinting; learn how to fix and wash your printed works. At the end of the day you will have a printed and written record of your plant based colours, as well as your screen and block printed fabrics.  All Materials included. This course is suitable for those who have some experience of screen and block printing on fabric and would like to learn how to make plant based ink. Tutor: Cath Bristow
